Racing has been taking place at Cartmel since 1856 and has proven to be a fantastic spectacle year in year out, with its famous backdrop of the beautiful English Lake District.
Cartmel only stages National Hunt (jump) racing. There are nine fixtures in the Cartmel racing calendar, commencing on the Whit Holiday weekend in May and running through the August Bank Holiday weekend.
The course itself is a sharp and narrow left handed oval. The big difference from other courses is Cartmel’s home straight which unusually veers off and dissects the main oval.
The annual series has been a tremendous success every year and we cannot wait for this season to begin!
The series includes 5 races across the racing season of which trainers earn 12 points for a winner, six for second, three for third and two for any other runner.
Last year was certainly exciting with an incredibly tight competition throughout the series
